Vein Treatment
Pre-treatment & Post-treatment Instructions
Precautions Before and After Laser Treatment
Avoid sun exposure for 1-2 weeks prior, during, and one week after treatment. A broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher should be applied whenever exposed to the sun.
Expectations Following Treatment
Immediately following treatment, the area may show a slight erythema with some swelling. Bruising or darkening of the treated veins may occur. Blistering may rarely occur.
General Skin Care
During the healing phase, the area must be treated delicately. Do not rub, scratch, or pick. If a crust develops, let it fall off on its own. Apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment to the treated area several times a day to keep area moist. Do not scrub the area, pat the area dry. Do not shave over the area if swelling, crusting or scabbing is present. If swelling occurs, apply ice. Wrap the ice in a soft cloth. Discomfort or stinging may be relieved with Tylenol.
Avoid hot baths/whirlpools for 7 days following treatment.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 1 week after treatment. Walking is encouraged.
Avoid lying flat for 2 to 3 days and nights. This will help prevent or reduce swelling. Resting and sleeping in a recliner chair is preferred. If you do not have a recliner chair, prop your head and shoulders upright with many pillows.
To improve your healing time after treatments, oral supplements of 500mg Vitamin C and Arnica Montana tablets two to three times daily are recommended.
