BOTOX® Cosmetic & Fillers
Botox injections are a safe, simple and virtually pain-free way to achieve quick and noticeable (oftentimes, dramatic!) results. Botox is perhaps the best-known member of a family of products known as Neuromodulators. Similar products include Dysport and Xeomin . Neuromodulators minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the muscles that create them. Results typically last about 3 to 4 months at which point re-treatment is necessary to maintain the effect. Botox is FDA labeled for use between the eyebrows (glabella), outer eye corners (crows’ feet) and forehead. Dr. Bath also frequently uses Botox off-label to provide brow lifts and smooth wrinkles in other areas of the face and neck. The most common side effects include headache and minor bruising.
Reasons for Considering a Botox Treatment:
- Excessive facial wrinkles.
- Large wrinkles or furrows in your forehead.
- Small wrinkles or “crow’s feet” around your eyes.
- A vertical “frown line” between your eyebrows.
Recovery Procedure
Patients generally may return to normal activities shortly after treatment. However, it is advised to refrain from heavy physical exercise, applying cosmetics, or laying down flat for at least a couple hours. It is also advisable to avoid rubbing or massaging the injected area for at least 24 hours. Some patients experience minor headaches afterward which may be treated with Tylenol. The occasional small bruise may be covered with makeup.
