Dr. Bath may recommend any one of several approaches to tighten sagging skin. In the most extreme instances, surgery may be the best option. Even so, many surgery patients will require additional resurfacing work to achieve their desired outcome.
For those patients who are not yet surgery candidates, Dr. Bath may recommend a resurfacing procedure. Resurfacing treatments address multiple concerns, often during just a single session. Patients notice visibly firmer skin (especially around the delicate tissues of the eyes), fewer broken capillaries, clearer skin and fewer lines and wrinkles. Bella Cosmedica offers two types of resurfacing treatments, traditional CO2 and the exciting, newer nitrogen plasma technology (already popular in Europe and Asia). Impressively, studies of NEOGEN PSR Nitrogen Plasma System patients have documented new collagen formation continuing for up to 2 years post-treatment. Dr. Bath will recommend which approach is best suited for you during your consultation appointment. While each patient’s recovery is different, most are able to wear makeup and return to most normal activities within about 7 days of treatment.
One of our most popular treatments is the Pellevé (PELL-uh-vay) Wrinkle Reduction System. This treatment may be recommended for younger patients with early signs of skin laxity or those without the luxury of 7 days recovery time. Pellevé employs the use of radiofrequency waves to heat the deepest layers of the skin, thereby stimulating collagen production. Studies have shown that collagen production continues for up to 6 months following a single Pellevé session. Pellevé is a very comfortable treatment which is often compared to the feeling of a warm stone massage. Patients may return to work and most normal activities immediately after treatment. Multiple sessions spaced roughly 30 days apart is recommended for best results.
